Abstract bee paintings exploring repetition, variation, & instinct

The Bee Series began as a focused exploration of repetition and scale, starting with small abstract paintings and gradually expanding into a much larger body of work. Each painting explores the same subject through variation in texture, colour, and movement. Rather than aiming for realism, these works focus on presence and energy. Returning repeatedly to the same subject allows subtle differences to emerge naturally, creating paintings that feel connected yet entirely individual. The Bee Series has become one of my most recognised collections, with original abstract bee paintings collected throughout the UK and internationally. The series includes works ranging from small, intimate pieces to larger statement paintings. Each piece is created entirely by hand in my Oxfordshire studio and exists as a one-of-a-kind original artwork.
