This painting is built from layered horizontal bands of colour, worked heavily into the surface to create a rough, weathered texture. Reds, rusts, muted pinks and ochres sit above cooler blues and greys, with the colours dragged, scraped and broken so that earlier layers remain visible beneath.
The surface is uneven and tactile, with areas of raised texture and erosion-like marks that give the piece a sense of age and wear. The horizontal composition suggests a landscape without defining it, a horizon, waterline, or weather system, leaving the interpretation open while remaining firmly grounded in material and process.
Despite the complexity of the surface, the palette is restrained and balanced. Warm and cool tones push against one another without overpowering the whole, creating a quiet tension rather than drama. This is a painting about accumulation, time, and surface, something that rewards close looking as much as it holds space from a distance.

I use a variety of materials in my process. From brushes and pallet knives to cardboard scraps and sticks. My work is largely acrylic paint, whichever brand I can get on offer, and my preffered mediums are either Windsor and Newton or Liquitex.
Once signed and varnished, I photograph my paintings in natural light and crop to standard print sizes, adjusting levels to ensure as accurate a match to the original as possible. Once exported I print on my inkjet Epson P-900 SureColour. Tis a sexy beast.
I print onto a variety of papers, including high gloss and watercolour. My larger prints use satin 260gsm and my extra large prints (A1 & A0) are handled by a top notch local third party printing service I've been working with for years.
