Artist's Description
This Too Shall Pass is a deeply personal piece about the fragility of the artists mental state. The edges are unfinished intentionally & the piece is left on its stretchers with no frame. It’s representative of the relentlessness of the everyday & the never ending lists constantly swirling & growing, dragging us down. Arches represent the daily mountains needed to be overcome, & the tears at the top when we realise there’s another to climb tomorrow. The letters are drawn in the artist h&writing, torn & damaged, much like us. They are attached delicately, in place but fragile, as though they could fall off at any moment. The thick texture work, reminiscent of age & the heavy weight of life & its nuances, the creases holding it all together. This introspective piece is a departure from the artists usual more bold & chaotic style. It’s a sad moment that we know from experience, will eventually pass.
